Bernhard place
Bernhard Platz (born March 24, 1898 in Rosenberg i. Westpr. , † 1983 in Friedrichshafen ) was a German administrative lawyer and ministerial official.
Life
Place attended the high school in Hohensalza . After graduating from high school, he joined the Prussian army as a flag junior in 1916 . After the end of the First World War , he studied law and political science at the Albertus University in Königsberg . In 1919 he became active in the Corps Littuania . In 1923 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD.
In 1927 he joined the administration of the Deutsche Reichsbahn as a government assessor (1920–1945) . After several years with the Reichsbahndirektion Königsberg and the Reichsbahndirektion Trier , he was appointed to the head office of the Reichsbahn in Berlin in 1931. He mainly worked on tariff issues and participated in international treaties (especially with the eastern countries) and in questions of the international rail transport association.
On behalf of the Minister of Transport he set in 1935 in Bremen , the tariff department of the railway administration Hannover one. In the following year he was transferred to the Hamburg Reich Railway Directorate as Oberreichsbahnrat . There he was entrusted, among other things, with the management of the German seaport tariffs of the Reichsbahn. As the successor to Eduard Grunow , he was appointed "by the Führer" as President of the Transport Authority at the Bremen Senate in June 1942 . The Reichsbahn was very reluctant to approve the freight transport specialist .
After the occupation of Bremen in April 1945, Platz managed the authority alone. A new Senate was only installed in mid-June. He was discharged from office on September 28, 1945 by order of the British Military Government and reinstated in 1946.
As Senate Director at the Senator for Ports, Shipping and Transport, he promoted the reconstruction of the ports and the expansion of the transport network in the post-war period . In the summer of 1953 he was instrumental in the so-called Lower Weser Agreement between Bremen and Lower Saxony. The treaty pacified Bremen's relationship with the other seaports on the Lower Weser .
Retired in December 1961, Platz accepted a consultancy contract in transport business with the authorities.
