Bernhard Reinhold
Ludwig Heinrich Bernhard Reinhold (born April 23, 1824 in Schönberg (Mecklenburg) , † November 22, 1892 in Plauen near Dresden ) was a German painter .
Life
Bernhard Reinhold was a son of the court counselor Friedrich Reinhold (1793-1858) and his wife Bernhardine Renate, geb. Bartholdi, daughter of the mayor from Neustrelitz .
He went to Copenhagen to study sculpture , where he was a student of Bertel Thorvaldsen and Herman Wilhelm Bissen . In 1846 he came to Munich. From 1847 to 1856 he was trained as a painter in Italy, especially in Rome, where he made a portrait of the Cardinal Secretary of State Giacomo Antonelli . As a painter he was influenced by Gottlieb Biermann , Oscar Begas , Ludwig Knaus and Anselm Feuerbach . He returned to Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1856 and lived in Neubrandenburg until 1858 . On August 19, 1858, he married Luise (1839-1897), a daughter of Neubrandenburg's First Mayor Friedrich Brückner , in Neubrandenburg , and painted his portrait.
In the same year he moved to Plauen (today a district of Dresden), but traveled a lot and spent the winter months in Bremen. From 1865 to 1867 he made another trip to Italy. From 1868 to 1872 he worked in Helsinki as a portrait painter and drawing teacher at the University of Helsinki .
Reinhold was friends with Fritz Reuter and supported him financially. For Polterabend Reinholds Reuter drove the hen poem Otto and Ottilie ... at. At his wedding, Reuter's Singspiel Eine Marktszene was performed.
Gustav Pauli received watercolors lessons from Reinhold in Bremen and remembered him fondly, "who with his regular facial features and flowing beard looked something like God in Simplicissimus ". He would have “got used to making a living with portraits on extensive trips to countries in need of art. He had lived in Rome for a long time and there the height of the mastery granted him by fate in a portrait of Cardinal Antonelli, the famous minister Pius IX. reached".
