Bernie Brillstein
Bernard J. "Bernie" Brillstein (born April 26, 1931 in New York City , † August 7, 2008 in Los Angeles ) was an American film and television producer.
life and career
Born in Manhattan , Brillstein studied at New York University and began his career in the post office of the artist agency William Morris Agency (WMA) in New York. He worked his way up to an agent and became a television producer in the 1960s. Brillstein founded his own artist agency , The Brillstein Company , in 1969 , which was also involved in the development of television productions. His company subsequently produced shows such as Hee Haw , Muppet Show , Saturday Night Live and ALF .
Brillstein became the personal manager of stars like Gilda Radner , John Belushi (Saturday Night Live), Jim Henson (The Muppet Show) and Paul Fusco (ALF) through his involvement in these successes . In the early 1990s he founded a production company called Brillstein-Gray Entertainment , which produced the series The Sopranos for HBO among others . He was also involved as an executive producer on various films, including the Blues Brothers , Ghostbusters and Schlappe Bullen Don't Bite . On April 18, 2001, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his services . Brillstein succumbed to heart disease on August 7, 2008.
