The Bibersbach is a 10 km long left tributary of the Röslau in the district town of Wunsiedel in the Upper Franconian district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtel Mountains in northeast Bavaria .

geography

course

The Bibersbach arises southwest of Schönlind next to the Weiden – Oberkotzau railway line from the confluence of its two source streams at the boundary between Röslau and Wunsiedel. The longer right Zeitelmoosbach comes from a large forest area in the west, where it arises near the loosely wooded Zeitelmooses through which it flows . The left Moosbach rises closer to the northeast near the Wunsiedler village of Bernstein .

The Bibersbach, which merges there under the Schloßberg ( 605  m above sea level ), initially flows in the direction of its larger upper course to the east, but immediately begins a slow right curve of 135 ° through the area of the city of Wunsiedel, where it crosses the railway line for the first time , passes Sinatengrün on the flat left slope, where Bremer Mühle resumes a previously branched off canal, there also passes an approximately hectare-sized lake in an old open-cast mine on the left and then crosses under the St 2665. Now heading south, it takes the Göpfersbach from the left across from the new housing estate of Holenbrunn on the right slope , its longest tributary, which rises in the north of Bernstein, and then feeds the worm mill via a canal at the inlet on the Holenbrunn side . It then passes a steeper left-hand forest slope under the village of Wintersberg and crosses the railway line again as it runs to the southwest. After it has flowed past the Wunsiedler sewage treatment plant in this direction, it flows under the district road WUN 14, which runs eastwards towards the Czech border, opposite Schneckenhammer and east of the closed settlement area of Wunsiedel from the left into the almost opposite Röslau .

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Biberbach covers almost 29 km² and lies between the larger rivers Eger in the north and Röslau in the south. On the northwest side it borders on that of the Grieserbach, which flows into the Eger, on the north side briefly on the catchment areas of the smaller right Eger tributaries and in the northeast on that of another Bibersbach , which flows into the Eger below at Marktleuthen . The other rivers behind the eastern, southern and western watershed all drain over the Röslau. In the east, the Thiersbach , which flows into it via the Flitterbach , and the Leimatbach compete with the Biberbach ; in the south-east, then, less significant watercourses that flow into it a little below the Bibersbach. From the confluence with the Röslau it flows very closely beyond the southern watershed, further to the west on this side of the watershed then the Krugelsbach, which flows slightly above it . Beyond the western border of the catchment area lies that of the Hammerlbach .

The highest elevation in the catchment area, which has large areas of forest, is 675  m above sea level. NHN high Grießberg in the Finkensteinwald on the northern watershed, which rises a little north of the sources of Moosbach and Göpfersbach bei Bernstein.
