Live and act
The daughter of a hotel owner had already tried her hand as a stage interpreter when she was a student at the Catholic University in Washington DC in the early 1940s and then performed a play in the Willard Hotel, also in the American capital, in late summer and early autumn 1943 . She made her debut in New York in June 1944, where she received one of the leading roles in Broken Hearts of Broadway at the Central Opera House . Bibi Osterwald reached Broadway at the end of the same year and has made a name for herself as a musical actress since her debut there on Boxing Day in Sing Out, Sweet Land . This was followed by engagements in the performances of Three to Make Ready, Sally, Magnolia Alley, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Golden Apple, The Vamp, Look Homeward Angel ( look homewardly, Engel , Osterwald's only participation in a spoken theater drama) and A Family up to spring 1962 Affair . In the early / mid-1980s, Bibi Osterwald went on tour with the musical 42nd Street .
Since her debut in 1948, Bibi Osterwald has also been in front of television cameras very often. Most of the time she appeared as guest star on TV series, including popular hits like Charlie's Angels , Falcon Crest , Quincy , The Streets of San Francisco and Love Boat . She got permanent roles in the late 1960s and early 1970s in the series Where the Heart Is and Bridget and Bernie . Participation in movies was much less common. On the big screen she was with more or less small supporting roles in a few Hollywood A-productions such as His Name Was Parrish (alongside Claudette Colbert ), Henry's love life (as a partner of Peter Sellers ), Simson cannot be beat ( next to Sean Connery ) and Stolen we see the whole bank (together with George C.
