Bike Aid is a German cycling team based in Blieskastel .
The team led by the sporting director Lutz Drehkopf was founded in 2014 and registered as the UCI Continental Team . Co-founder and jointly responsible is Timo Schäfer , who has also been active as a cyclist for the team since it was founded .
The aim of the team, according to its own statements, is to contribute to the promotion of education in structurally poor countries with its own projects, as well as to enable intercultural exchange and to live it itself. In addition to a sporting perspective, drivers from developing countries should also receive language training and an internship with team sponsors.
The team is connected to and is supported by the eponymous Bike Aid eV , a non-profit association based in Saarbrücken, whose goal is to combine charity and the promotion of cycling.
In the first year of the team's existence, Mekseb Debesay won the individual classification of the UCI Africa Tour 2014 , which the team finished third in the team classification . The team won the team classification of the UCI Africa Tour 2017 .
At the beginning of the 2020 season, the Turkish Corendon Airlines , previously sponsor of the Corendon Circus team , became the team's new sponsor.
