William "Bill" Brack (born December 26, 1935 in Toronto ) is a former Canadian racing driver .

Career

William Brack was one of Canada's most famous racing drivers from the late 1960s to the mid 1970s. Brack drove in the popular Formula A and Formula B series of those years. In addition, Brack was a successful participant in many sports car races for the brands Lotus , March and Chevron for more than two decades.

Brack also competed three times in Formula 1 , each time at the Canadian Grand Prix . In 1968 he got a works car from Colin Chapman . However, Brack failed with the Lotus 49 after a defect on the drive shaft. In 1969 he got a works car again, this time a BRM P138 . In the end Brack was ten laps behind the winner and was not classified. Brack was a guarantee for a lot of spectators and that is why the organizers arranged a works BRM for him again for the 1972 race in Mosport . Again he was out of luck and with the BRM P180 dropped out prematurely after a spin.
