William Henry "Bill" McDougall (born August 10, 1966 in Mississauga , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Detroit Red Wings , Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning in National Hockey from 1989 to 2008 League , as well as the Munich Barons in the DEL .

Career

Bill McDougall began his career as a hockey player with the Erie Panthers , for which he was active in the East Coast Hockey League in the 1989/90 season . During his first professional season he was hired on January 9, 1990 as a free agent by the Detroit Red Wings , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1990/91 season , where he was a template in a total of three games. The remainder of the time in the Detroit Red Wings franchise was spent by the attacker on their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Adirondack Red Wings . On February 22, 1992, Detroit gave him in exchange for Max Middendorf from the Edmonton Oilers , with whose AHL farm team he won the Calder Cup in the 1992/93 season . In August 1993, the right-shooter was hired as a free agent by the Tampa Bay Lightning , for which he scored a total of six scorer points, including three goals, in 22 games in the 1993/94 season.

In summer 1994, McDougall went to the first time Europe , where he worked in the 1994/95 season for the HC Courmaosta in the Italian Serie A played. The following season he began at HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , which was Slovenian champion at the end of the season . During the season, the Canadian moved to EV Zug from the Swiss National League A , with which he became Swiss champion for the first time in 1998 . The center was able to repeat this success a year later with HC Lugano after starting the season with their league rivals Kloten Flyers . Following this season, McDougall was hired by the newly founded Munich Barons from the DEL , with whom he became German champion in the 1999/2000 season . In January 2000, McDougall's drug test was positive for pseudoephedrine and he was banned for eight months.

He then returned to Switzerland, where he played for the EHC Chur in the National League A for another year. In the 2001/02 season, the winger was under contract with ERC Ingolstadt from the 2nd Bundesliga , with whom he was promoted to the DEL. The Canadian ended his career in his home province of Ontario, where he played for the Dundas Real McCoy's in the Ontario Hockey Association from 2002 to 2008 .
