course

The Birnbach rises in the Haardt west of the local community Leinsweiler at 354  m above sea level. Above sea level.

The stream first flows through Leinsweiler and Ilbesheim , where a street was called Birnbachweg and where the 1.7 km long Fuchsgraben joins from the left . In the incorporated wine-growing village of Wollmesheim , he reaches the town of Landau in the Palatinate . Then he touches the southern edge of the Landau core town, where he passes the street Am Birnbach , before flowing through the Birnbach Park named after him for a distance of 800 m . There, to the right of the brook, the Ebenberg , a 160  m high hill, extends on the top of which the Landau-Ebenberg airfield lies.

Between the Landau districts of Queichheim and Mörlheim, the stream bends from its previous main direction east to north and finally flows into the Queich from the right at a height of 134  m .

Road traffic

The Birnbach crosses under the state road 508 in Leinsweiler. On the way to Ilbesheim, the county road  48 accompanies him on his right. In Ilbesheim he crosses under the K 20, east of the municipality (from north to south) the L 509, in Wollmesheim then the L 510. On the southern edge of the Landau core town, the K 7 is crossed and the federal motorway 65 ( Ludwigshafen - Karlsruhe ) south of Queichheim . Below Queichheim, the brook crosses under the L 509 for the second time, this time from south to north.
