Birni N'Gaouré is a municipality and the capital of the Boboye department in Niger .

Birni N'Gaouré is located at the transition from the Sahel to the greater Sudan landscape . The Wadi Dallol Bosso runs through the urban area . The neighboring communities are Kiota in the north, Gollé in the east, Fabidji in the south and Fakara in the west. The municipality is divided into seven districts, 40 administrative villages, 17 traditional villages and 67 hamlets. The neighborhoods are called Banizoumbou, Birni Kaina, Fada, Garou Banda, Kotaki, Nouveau Carré and Silinké.

history

In 1900, the French administrative post in Dosso allowed the Fulbe leader Bayéro from the Tagazar village of Sandiré to merge a Fulbe group in and around the new village of Birni N'Gaouré into a new unit.

In the flood disaster in West and Central Africa in 2010 , 839 residents of Birni N'Gaouré were classified as disaster victims.

population

At the 2001 census, Birni N'Gaouré had 10,775 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, after an increase in the municipal area, the population was 52,566.

Economy and Infrastructure

The city is located in a zone where rain-fed agriculture is practiced. Birni N'Gaouré is the seat of a Tribunal d'Instance, one of the 30 civil courts nationwide , which are below the ten civil courts of the first instance (Tribunal de Grande Instance). National Road 1 runs through Birni N'Gaouré and is part of the international Dakar-N'Djamena Highway .
