history

The main town Koygolo was founded in the second half of the 19th century by Issa Korombé as his new seat of power, who had previously been in Karma . After the city of Dosso was placed under French rule at the end of 1898 , Koygolo, along with Birni N'Gaouré and Sandiré, was one of the villages in which the French secured their authority immediately afterwards. The colonial power finally established a canton in Koygolo in 1905. The rural community of Koygolo emerged from the canton of Koygolo in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform.
