Karma (boboye)

Karma (also: Karma Issa and Karma Zarma ) is a village in the rural community of Koygolo in Niger .
The village, led by a traditional chief ( chef traditionnel ), is located on the edge of the dry valley Dallol Bosso , about ten kilometers south of Koygolo, the capital of the rural municipality of the same name, which belongs to the Boboye department in the Dosso region. Other larger villages in the Karma area are Moussa Dey Béri in the east, Garankédey in the southeast, Kiota in the south, Harikanassou in the southwest and Dantchandou in the west.
In the second half of the 19th century, Issa Korombé from the Zarma people was the ruler of Karma. Under his leadership, Karma formed a formidable adversary. Enemy attacks were initially directed against Imanan , among others , together with Filingué , followed by raids in Tagazar . Issa Korombé, in alliance with Dargol , had Lamordé destroyed and took Kollo . Then he founded the place Koygolo and moved the seat of his rule there. Issa Korombé died in a battle against the Fulbe near Boumba .
At the 2012 census, Karma had 1916 residents who lived in 249 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 1,357 in 184 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 1,234 in 160 households.
