The Bisenzio at Prato

The Bisenzio is a 47 km long river in the region Tuscany in Italy , the provinces of Prato and the Metropolitan city of Florence crossed from north to south and at Signa in the Arno flows.

The river has its source in the northern Apennines a few meters south of the municipality of Cantagallo , province of Prato , about 40 km north-northwest of Florence .

It flows through the spring community Cantagallo for a total of 10 km and initially moves northeast to Vernio (210 m), where it spends 6 km. Then it turns south, goes through the municipality of Cantagallo (district of Carmignanello, 183 m), where it meets the historic bridges Ponte di Cerbaia (called Ponte della Signoria ) and Ponte Rotto , and then crosses Vaiano (98 m, Length of the river in the local area 8 km), where the Rio Fiumenta flows in, and the provincial capital Prato (9 km, 30 m). Here it first meets the fish farm (Pescaia) in the northern district of Santa Lucia , then on the right side it passes the center of the main town with the bridges Ponte di Mercatale and Ponte alla Vittoria . He gave the place Campi Bisenzio its name since 1862 and flows through the municipality for 8 km. Here it is fed by the Marinella and Marina rivers. After another 5 km in the municipality of Signa , the Bisenzio flows from the north to the Arno as a right tributary.
