The Diocese of Amravati ( lat. : Dioecesis Amravatensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Amravati .

history

Pope Pius XII founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Cum petierit on May 8, 1955 from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Nagpur , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan .

On July 29, 1968 it lost parts of its territory to the Apostolic Exarchate of Chanda and on December 17, 1977 to the Diocese of Aurangabad .
