The diocese of Chosica ( Latin Dioecesis Chosicana , Spanish Diócesis de Chosica ) is a Roman Catholic diocese located in the east of the province of Lima .

history

The Diocese of Chosica was established on December 14, 1996 from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Lima and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On July 6, 2001, the territorial prelature of Yauyos gave the parishes on the upper reaches of the Río Rímac and its tributaries in the province of Huarochirí (Matucana, Ricardo Palma, Santa Eulalia and San Mateo de Huánchor) to the diocese of Chosica. First bishop was the from Riesenbeck originating Sacred Heart missionary Norbert Strotmann , who still presides over the diocese today.
