The territorial prelate Yauyos ( lat. : Praelatura Territorialis Yauyosensis ) is in Peru situated Roman Catholic territorial prelate based in San Vicente de Cañete .

history

The territorial prelature of Yauyos was established on April 12, 1957 from the cession of territory by the Archdiocese of Lima and subordinated to this as a suffragan . The seat of the prelature was Yauyos. On March 24, 1962, the coastal strip south of Lima, on both sides of San Vicente de Cañete, was separated from the Archdiocese of Lima and added to the Prelature of Yauyos. The seat of the prelature was moved from Yauyos to San Vicente de Cañete; however, the name of the territorial prelature was not changed.

On July 6, 2001, the territorial prelature of Yauyos gave the parishes on the upper reaches of the Río Rímac and its tributaries in the province of Huarochirí (Matucana, Ricardo Palma, Santa Eulalia and San Mateo de Huánchor) to the diocese of Chosica .
