history
The diocese of Guarulhos was established on January 30, 1981 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Plane intellegitur from cessions of territory from the diocese of Mogi das Cruzes and subordinated to the Archdiocese of São Paulo as a suffragan .
