The Diocese of Jujuy ( lat. : Dioecesis Iuiuyensis , span. : Diócesis de Jujuy or Obispado de Jujuy ) is in Argentina situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in San Salvador de Jujuy .

history

The Diocese of Jujuy was founded on April 20, 1934 by Pope Pius XI. established with the papal bull Nobilis Argentinae nationis from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Salta and subordinated to this as a suffragan diocese. On September 8, 1969, the Diocese of Jujuy gave up parts of its territory to establish the Territorial Prelature Humahuaca .
