The Roman Catholic Diocese of Koper ( lat. : Dioecesis Iustinopolitanus ; in Slovenian. : Škofija Koper ) is in Slovenia located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Slovenia , based in Koper .

history

The history of the diocese of Capodistria goes back to the 6th century. In 1828 it was united with Trieste to form the Diocese of Trieste and Capodistria . After 1945 an apostolic administrator was installed in Koper for the part of the diocese of Trieste and Capodistria now administered by Yugoslavia . In 1977 the diocese was restored and incorporated into the ecclesiastical province of Ljubljana (Laibach).
