The Roman Catholic Diocese of Makeni ( Latin Dioecesis Makenensis , English Diocese of Makeni ) is in Sierra Leone situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Makeni . It includes the provinces of Northern and North West .

history

The diocese of Makeni was on April 3, 1952 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Christiani populi from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Freetown and Bo as the Apostolic Prefecture Makeni . The Apostolic Prefecture of Makeni was founded on February 24, 1962 by Pope John XXIII. raised to the diocese. On November 11, 1970, the Diocese of Makeni was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Freetown and Bo as a suffragan .
