Björn Róbert Sigurðarson (born January 20, 1994 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic ice hockey player who has been under contract with UMFK Esja in the Icelandic ice hockey league since January 2016 .
Career
Björn Sigurðarson started his career as an ice hockey player in his native Reykjavík at Skautafélag Reykjavíkur . In 2009 he moved to the Malmö Redhawks , for whom he was on the ice in the Swedish J18 Elit and the J18 Allsvenskan. In the middle of the 2010/11 season he returned to his home club Skautafélag Reykjavíkur. In 2012 he moved to Copenhagen Hockey . For the Danish capital team he played in the second highest Danish league , but was also used in the U20 league. After a year there, he was drawn across the pond to the Aberdeen Wings in the North American Hockey League . In 2015 he returned to Europe and initially played for Imatran Ketterä in Suomi-sarja , the third highest Finnish division. Since January 2016 he has been on the ice at UMFK Esja in the Icelandic ice hockey league. In 2017 he contributed to the club's championship title as top scorer, top scorer and best preparer.
International
Björn Sigurðarson played for Iceland as a teenager. He took part in Division III of the U18 World Championships in 2009 , when his 10 goals made a significant contribution to promotion to Division II, and in 2011 , when he was promoted again and Björn Sigurðarson was named top scorer and scorer and the best plus / minus - Record of the tournament, as well as the Division II tournaments of the U18 World Championships in 2010 and 2012 , where he provided the most assists. For the U20 he was even on the ice in five World Cup tournaments: In addition to the Division III tournaments in 2010 and 2012 , which ended with the rise of the Northerners, he also played in the Division II tournaments in 2011 , 2013 and 2014 .
