Bjarne Lyngstad

Bjarne Lyngstad (born January 9, 1901 in Inderøy , Fylke Nord-Trøndelag ; † September 4, 1971 ) was a Norwegian politician of the left-wing liberal Venstre (V), who was a member of the Storting for eight years and was Minister for Local Affairs and Labor in the government in 1963 from Prime Minister John Lyng and from 1965 to 1970 Minister of Agriculture in the government of Prime Minister Per Borten .

Life

Teacher, farmer and local politician

Lyngstad, son of the farmer Andreas Lyngstad and his wife Inga Vist, completed various courses at the Folk High School in Askov Sogn , the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and the Norwegian Agricultural College (Norges landbrukshøgskole) after attending adult education center and agricultural school . After completing his studies, he became a teacher at the Sund Adult Education Center in 1926 , where he taught until 1940. He also ran a farm in Inderøy from 1930 to 1970 .

Storting member and minister

On August 28, 1963, Lyngstad was appointed by Prime Minister John Lyng as Minister of Local Affairs and Labor (Kommunal- og Arbeidsminister) in his government, which he served until the end of Lyng's term only four weeks later on September 25, 1963.

Lyngstad was appointed Minister of Agriculture (Landbruksminister) in his government on October 12, 1965 by Prime Minister Per Borten . He held this ministerial office until he was replaced by his party friend Hallvard Eika as part of a cabinet reshuffle on August 21, 1970 .
