history
The village was founded in 1880 by Bessarabian German settlers from Kulm , Neu-Elft , Tarutino , Katzbach , Teplitz , Paris , Alt-Elft , Lichtental , Dennewitz , Leipzig and Wittenberg .
The name Gnadenfeld was chosen out of gratitude for the good harvest in the year of settlement. Also in Russian and Romanian usage it was called Gnadenfeld from its foundation until the Germans were resettled in 1940. The Russian settlers renamed it Blagodatnaja after 1940 , which means, for example, the gifted or the blessed.
