Blandine Wittkopp

Blandine Wittkopp (born June 24, 1966 in Waldbröl ) is a German prehistoric and medieval archaeologist.

Life

Blandine Wittkopp graduated from the Bodelschwingh-Gymnasium Herchen in 1985 . From 1985 to 1988 she studied Prehistory and Protohistory at the University of Bonn and the minor subjects Rhenish State History and Historical Geography . She completed her main studies from 1988 to 1993 at the Free University of Berlin . In addition to her major in Prehistory and Early History, she studied Medieval History and Geology as minor subjects. During her studies in 1991 she undertook a research trip through southern and eastern Bulgaria with a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service . A grant from the Munich Southeastern European Society enabled Blandine Wittkopp to undertake a research trip through western and northern Bulgaria in 1992. She received her MA in 1993 at the Free University of Berlin for her thesis on the subject of metal vessels in Iron Age graves in Southeast Europe .

From 1993 to 1996 Blandine Wittkopp was a research assistant and from 1996 to 2006 a freelance research assistant at the Society for Archaeological Monument Preservation. V. Berlin based at the Free University of Berlin. Her area of ​​responsibility included the management and execution of excavations of various sizes, public relations work, guided tours, publications and the guidance of students in excavation internships and of ABM employees .

From 2000 to 2003, Blandine Wittkopp led interdisciplinary studies of modern tombs in the Parochialkirche GbR in the Parochialkirche Berlin-Mitte and in the Brandenburg Cathedral . From 2005 to 2008 she was entrusted by the Archeological-Anthropological Field Research Working Group with the management and implementation of the excavation of the Dominican monastery in Strausberg . From 2006 to 2008, Blandine Wittkopp was managing director of the archaeo team GbR she founded, where she led archaeological excavations and interdisciplinary studies in Berlin and Brandenburg with a focus on medieval archeology and building history. Since 2009, Blandine Wittkopp has been a research assistant in the German Research Foundation's project “The High Medieval State Expansion and Development of Settlement Structures in Brandenburg” at the Brandenburg State Office for Monument Preservation and the State Archaeological Museum .

In Eichwerder , Blandine Wittkopp led the excavations of a Neolithic village from 2016-2017, where salt ovens and a Neolithic burial hut were discovered.
