Blessed & Possessed is the sixth album by the German power metal band Powerwolf . It was released on July 17, 2015 on Napalm Records .

Emergence

In retrospect, "Matthew Greywolf" (Benjamin Buss) described the album as a difficult birth. After the very successful album Preachers of the Night , the band's songwriting was out of breath. But when the title song was fixed with Blessed & Possessed , the other song ideas came naturally.

Like all previous albums, the album was recorded with Fredrik Nordström in the Fredman studio in Hyssna, south-east of Gothenburg . Further recordings took place in the Kohlkeller Studios (Studio Greywolf), at Moburec in Uelversheim and in the Église Sainte-Barbe de Crusnes, Thionville , France .

Publications

The album appeared in different versions. In addition to the normal CD version, a download version and various LP versions, a limited edition was released with the cover album Metallum Nostrum as an encore. For release on July 17, 2015, the album was also released in a box set limited to 1000 copies with an album and bonus CD as a media book , a 7 '' single with two orchestrated pieces, a rosary with a Powerwolf motif and a poster flag.

Music genre

The album differs little from the previous albums. The concept of the album is based on the divergent motifs "Blessed" and "Possessed". These refer on the one hand to a religious life versus a vicious life, on the other hand "Blessed" also describes the epic, classic side of their metal interpretation and "Possessed" the wild part of their music.

Reviews

Metal.de wrote: “ Blessed & Possessed is already the Metal-Party-Disc of the year! With powerful riffing , really big hooks and the cherished dose of kitsch, Powerwolf once again created an album in which every song is a direct hit! "The Metal Hammer saw Higher Than Heaven as the" highlight of the album "," which is paved with upcoming live -Gass bugs who grab you again and again and don't want to let go of that quickly. "
