Blofeld is a district of Reichelsheim in the Wetterau district in Hesse .

geography

Blofeld is located in the Wetterau and is the easternmost district of Reichelsheim. State road 3187 leads through the village . The federal motorway 45 runs to the east .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document around 1160 as Blafelt .

The name reappeared when the " von Blafeld " properties were sold to the Arnsburg monastery . The church , today the Protestant parish church, was mentioned in a document in 1349. In the Thirty Years War the place was devastated and depopulated. In the middle of the 17th century, the place came under the rule of Landgrave Wilhelm Christoph (Hessen-Homburg) (1625–1681), who had the farms resettled and farmed.

Blofeld was part of the old district Büdingen and was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on 1 February 1972 the municipality Heuchelheim , also from the Kreis Büdingen, as well as the communities Beienheim and Dorn Assenheim from the old circle Friedberg , with the town Reichelsheim together . Weckesheim was added on August 1, 1972 .

In addition, “The Wild Woman Stalls” is a sight. It is a 2.50 meter long and 1.50 meter wide basalt block with three artificial depressions in the forest on the Hohe Berg between Blofeld and Dauernheim . One suspects an old Germanic cult place or the seat and the sanctuary of Celtic priests.

Economy and Infrastructure

The former garbage dump to the southwest of the town has now been recultivated. The Protestant parish church is in the middle of the village . In the district of Blofeld there are 177 hectares of forest.
