In the same year, the place was named Blooming Grove, it was named after another place of the same name, the birthplace of a local doctor. After the construction of the St. Louis Southwestern Railway in 1881, Blooming Grove was moved about one and a half kilometers to the north on the route and united with the existing White Church community . As a result of the Great Depression and falling cotton prices in the 1930s, many residents left the city. After World War II , the decline was compounded as many residents left the place for Waco or Dallas to work. The population fell to 729 by 1960, after which it rose again to 847 by 1990. Since then the number of inhabitants has decreased slightly again.
