Bo Wiget

Bo Wiget (born January 11, 1971 in Wattwil , Switzerland ) is a Swiss cellist and composer. He moves between classical music , new improvisation music and rock music . He is also active as a theater musician and performance artist .

Life

Bo Wiget grew up in Wattwil, Altstätten and Friborg , where he attended schools, trained as a primary school teacher and received classical cello lessons. Since 1989 he has undertaken various projects in rock, jazz and experimental music as well as theater and dance projects. In 1998 he began working with guitarist and visual artist Luigi Archetti , with whom he published several CDs and experimental videos and played concerts in Europe and Japan. Since 2007 he has given performances as both messies with the dancer and singer-songwriter Andreas A. Müller. Bo Wiget composes and arranges for theater and dance productions, in which he plays along to some extent, for example at the Schauspielhaus Zurich , Theater Neumarkt , Freiburg Theater , Schauspielhaus Bochum , at the Volksbühne Berlin , Staatsoper Berlin , the State Theater in Hanover , State Theater Saarbrücken and State Theater Braunschweig . He works with groups and directors such as Wunderbaum (Rotterdam NL), Stefan Kaegi ( Rimini Protokoll ), Meg Stuart (Damaged Goods), Christina Rast , Christoph Frick and Niklaus Helbling .

As a live musician (cello and electronics) Bo Wiget plays with musicians of various stripes such as Tetuzi Akiyama, Iva Bittová , Jan Galega Brönnimann , Andrea Chudak, Joachim Irmler, Margareth Kammerer , Wolfgang Katschner ( Lautten Compagney ), Makigami Koichi, Simon Lenski, Lucas Niggli , Hahn Rowe, Martin Schütz , Selah Sue (Accoustic Tour 2018), Taku Sugimoto, Christian Weber , Michael Werthmüller , Bernhard Zachhuber. There were also appearances, performances and collaborations with actors, dancers and poets such as Eva Brunner, Rosalind Crisp, Martin Engler , Christian Filips , Isabelle Menke, Monika Rinck , Raphael Urweider and Leopold von Verschuer .

As a composer, Bo Wiget et al. a. for the Staats- und Domchor Berlin , the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin , the Lautten Compagney, the Duo Rossini, the Argovia Philharmonic as well as for his own chamber ensemble Tolkar, which mainly plays Bo Wiget's arrangements of classical songs.

Bo Wiget is married to the actress Eva Brunner and lives in Berlin .
