Jan Galega Brönnimann

Jan Galega Brönnimann (born July 27, 1969 in Bafun , Cameroon ) is a Swiss jazz musician (clarinets, saxophones, composition).

Act

Brönnimann toured with Pierre Favre in 1994 . In the same year he was with Rhonda Dorsey and with Love's Labor's Lost . He then works as a freelance musician and composer for bands, DJs, dance and theater projects. In 1998 he founded his band Brink Man Ship , with whom he has released several albums since 1999. In addition to acoustic music, he combines live clarinets and saxophones with electronic sounds and rhythms and the rap of Nya . He was also active at Jazz Phalanx (with Roland Philipp , Hans Feigenwinter , Michel Poffet , David Elias ). In the last few years he toured Europe, Africa, Asia and Russia with various bands. In 2005 he presented the music of Brink Man Ship at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal .

Brönnimann has performed with Kenny Werner , Eddie Floyd , Richie Beirach , Sidsel Endresen , William Bell , Joy Frempong , Peter Schärli , Werner Hasler , Harald Haerter , Andreas Schaerer and Saadet Türköz , among others .

He can also be heard on albums by Igor's brass band, The Faranas, Eivind Aarset and the Bienne City Arkestra .

Prizes and awards

Brönnimann was honored at the international composition competition for science et cité . In 2008 he was artist in residence for Pro Helvetia in Cape Town . In 2009 he received the recognition award of the Canton of Bern for particularly important musical achievements.
