Robert Eldon "Bob" Drake (born December 14, 1919 in San Francisco , † April 18, 1990 in Woodland Hills ) was an American racing car driver .

Career

Bob Drake was an amateur racing driver in the US SCCA sports car series in the mid-1950s. After a few years of absence, he returned in 1960 with a Maserati Birdcage and celebrated a number of race wins.

He drove his only automobile world championship Grand Prix in 1960 at the home race in Riverside . Drake finished in 13th place, seven laps behind the winner, Stirling Moss . Drake drove a private Maserati 250F . It was the last time this vehicle was used in a race in the automobile world championship.
