The 2003 Bobby Bourn Memorial Players Championship was a darts tournament organized by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) , which took place on July 26, 2003 in the Winter Gardens of Blackpool and gave the impetus for the Players Championships introduced the following year . In the final, the English vice world champion Phil Taylor defeated the reigning world champion John Part from Canada 7-2.

In honor of the deceased official Bobby Bourn , the PDC hosted the Bobby Bourn Memorial Players Championship for the first time in the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, England, in July 2003 - at the same place and in the week before the World Matchplay . Due to the high prize money and the good organization, the tournament was a great success. Up until then, the PDC ranking tournaments had been spread out over the calendar year and were hosted by different organizers, the Bobby Bourn Memorial Players Championship marked the beginning of a new era in the history of darts. From then on, tournaments, their organization and the setting of the prize money were taken over by the PDC itself with increasing frequency. In the following calendar year, five tournaments took place as part of the Players Championships , which were part of the PDC Pro Tour .
