Bobby House (born January 7, 1973 in Whitehorse , Yukon ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was active during his career for the Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
House began his career in 1989 in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League with the Spokane Chiefs . There he played for two years and then moved within the league to the Brandon Wheat Kings . There the right-shooter has been able to develop continuously over the years and is one of the best scorers in the team. During the NHL Entry Draft 1991 he was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the third round in a total of 66th position. House stayed with the Wheat Kings until the end of the 1992/93 season and then joined the Indianapolis Ice from the International Hockey League . His last season in the WHL was also his most successful, with 96 scorer points in 61 games.
The 1994/95 season was not very positive for the trained striker . House could not fight for a place in the regular squad at the Indianapolis Ice and was sometimes even used in the East Coast Hockey League with the Columbus Chill . The then 22-year-old then decided to switch to the American Hockey League to the Albany River Rats , the then farm team of the New Jersey Devils . Despite good performance, he never got the chance to prove himself in the NHL . The 1.85 m tall striker reached his peak in the 1995/96 season when he scored 86 points in 77 games for the River Rats.
In the following years he changed clubs several times and during this time played for the AHL clubs Hershey Bears , Syracuse Crunch and Springfield Falcons, among others . In the summer of 1999 he signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs , which only used him in their farm team, the St. John's Maple Leafs .
After he finally had little hope of a permanent engagement in the NHL, House forced a move to Europe. There those responsible for the Hamburg Freezers from the DEL noticed him and transferred him to the Hanseatic city for the 2002/03 season . Here he was able to reach the play-offs three times in a row with the Freezers. In 2004 they could even advance to the play-off semi-finals, where they finally lost to the eventual champions, the Frankfurt Lions . House was a major contributor to this success. Not only was he one of the best scorers in the team in the main round, he was able to improve again in the play-offs and scored eight points (four goals and four assists ) in eleven games . In 2005 he ended his active ice hockey career at the age of 32.
