Both bonus titles can be found on the new edition of the album in the box The Columbia Studio Recordings 1964–1970 :

  • You Don't Know Where Your Interest Lies - 2:19
  • Old Friends (demo) - 2:11

The piece You Don't Know Where Your Interest Lies was released on June 14, 1967 in the USA as the B-side of the single Old Friends , but was never to be found on an album in the following years and only with the appearance of Columbia Studio Recordings- Box available again in stores.

Others

  • At the Zoo was also the title of a children's book written by Paul Simon.
  • A synthesizer is used in the song Save the Life of My Child , which is very untypical for the duo's music. In addition, the beginning of the 3rd verse contains the distorted introductory sequence from The Sound of Silence with the lines Hello, darkness, my old friend / I've come to talk with you again. The context is determined by the content of the play, which is about a young man who suicidal wants to commit.
  • The cover motif of the album served the Austrian duo Kruder & Dorfmeister as a template for the cover of their EP G-Stoned.

Cover versions

The following well-known new recordings ( cover versions ) have been released over the years:

  • Hazy Shade of Winter , 1988 by the Bangles (the 'A' was often left out); it was the soundtrack for the film Unter Null . It was also covered in a metal version by the German thrash metal band Sodom on their 1997 album 'Til Death Do Us Unite .
  • At the Zoo, 1993 by the Counting Crows
  • America, 2003 by Yes on the album Fragile as a bonus track
