Jean Bosler
Jean Bosler (born March 24, 1878 in Angers , † September 25, 1973 in Marseille ) was a French astronomer , astrophysicist and astrochemist with German roots. He came from the Boßler family in southern Hesse .
Bosler was the son of Lieutenant-colonel and Officier de la Légion d'Honneur Lucien Bosler, who in 1895 was company commander of the 46 e régiment d'infanterie territoriale .
Through Henri-Alexandre Deslandres , Jean Bosler came to the Paris Observatory , where in 1908 he discovered the spectral lines of ionized nitrogen around the comet Morehouse . Jean Bosler received funding for his scientific work from the Bonaparte Fund, which was financed by the Academy of Sciences. From 1923 to 1948 he was director of the Marseille Observatory and lecturer at the University of Marseille .
Jean Bosler made an important contribution to research on star evolution . Even the Nobel Prize winner Erwin Schrödinger referred to Bosler's work L'evolution des etoiles .
