Brad Furman

Brad Furman (* in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American film director and film producer .

Life

Furman grew up in Lafayette Hill and attended Penn Charter School in Philadelphia and Friends Central in Wynnewood . He later attended the Tisch School of the Arts for Film and Television at New York University .

He has worked in film and television since the early 2000s, including for a film agency and as a producer on the ABC talk show The Nancy Glass Show . He also worked on the production of the films Erin Brockovich (2000) and The Mexican (2001) as an assistant to Julia Roberts .

From 2002 he made various short films and a documentary. In 2007, Furman starred in The Take, directing a fictional film for the first time. The main roles were played by John Leguizamo , Rosie Perez and Tyrese Gibson , with whom Furman had been friends for many years.

When Lions Gate Entertainment and Lakeshore Entertainment were looking for a young director for the film adaptation of the Michael Connelly novel The Client , the producers became aware of Furman's directorial debut The Take after a tip from Connelly . Furman was eventually asked to direct The Client . The film, starring Matthew McConaughey , Ryan Phillippe , Marisa Tomei and William H. Macy , received good to very good reviews and was also financial with a worldwide box office of over USD 75 million (as of December 2011) on a budget of USD 40 million successfully.

As a third directorial work, Cry Macho , a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by N. Richard Nash from 1975, was announced. The film was also intended to portray Arnold Schwarzenegger's return as an actor after retiring as Governor of California. However, due to Schwarzenegger's marriage crisis, the project was not pursued further for the time being.

In 2013, Furman's third feature Runner Runner was released, starring Justin Timberlake , Ben Affleck and Gemma Arterton .
