City of Bremen

Bremen's breweries flourished from the 13th to the 17th centuries during the Hanseatic League . The top-fermented beer was not only sold regionally, but also transported to numerous countries on the North and Baltic Seas ; there were up to 250 small breweries. After that, 21 breweries (1809) only produced in Bremen for local and surrounding needs. The Remmer brewery was established in Bremen in 1824 . In 1826 Cord Hinrich Haake founded the CH Haake brewery with what would later become the Haake-Beck brand, and in 1843 Thomas Duntze founded a brewery that later operated as the Neustädter Actienbrauerei . The Dreßler brewery did not follow until 1870 and in 1873 the master brewer Heinrich Beck created the imperial brewery with the Beck's beer brand. Pub breweries were also established later.

Hemelingen

In 1868 there was a brewery in Hemelingen. The Hemelinger Aktienbrauerei (HAB) was founded in Hemelinger Bahnhofstraße in 1876. The bottom-fermented beer Hemelinger Spezial was brewed here. With the increasing industrialization of the place, beer consumption increased significantly. In 1916, the HAB was only able to meet its malt requirements with the help of the Beck & Co. cover, which it then took over in 1921. After 1945 the brewery produced the substitute drink OHA from whey and sweetener and from 1948 beer again. In 1985 beer production at the Hemelingen location was stopped.

Bremerhaven

The Karlsburg Brewery was established in the seaside town of Bremerhaven in 1891 and existed until 1974. The emigration center built in 1849 was taken over by the brewery in 1891 and converted in 1985 for the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences . Rotbier , Witbier (wheat beer), brown beer , oat beer , later porter and ale were originally the long-life beers in Northern Europe, Northern Germany and Bremen; Lower Rhine Altbier , Pils - and export beers were added in the 19th century.
