Brenden Fredrick Kichton (born June 18, 1992 in Spruce Grove , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with the Vienna Capitals in the Austrian ice hockey league .

Career

After serving in various junior teams in Alberta , Kichton moved to the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League (WHL), one of the three elite junior leagues in North America , at the age of 16 . After a total of five years in the Chiefs' jersey , he signed an entry-level contract with the Winnipeg Jets , but played exclusively for their farm team St. John's IceCaps - or for the Manitoba Moose from the 2015/16 season - in the American Hockey League (AHL).

After his contract was not renewed by the Jets , he was signed as a free agent by the Carolina Hurricanes in July 2017 . When he had no prospect of a place in the NHL with the Hurricanes , he moved to Europe for the first time in October 2018. The Finnish club Saimaan Pallo (SaiPa) signed Kichton for a year.

Although he finished the year as the second best defender on points from SaiPa, Kichton moved to Austria for the Vienna Capitals , where he also received a one-year contract.
