Brian Fahey (born March 2, 1981 in Glenview , Illinois ) is an American ice hockey player who was under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the highest Austrian ice hockey league between 2013 and 2016 .
Career
Brian Fahey began his career as a hockey player in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , for which he was active from 1997 to 1999 in the junior league United States Hockey League and North American Hockey League . He then attended the University of Wisconsin for four years , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association . In his first year of college he was awarded the election to the all-rookie team of the WCHA, whereupon the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in the fourth round selected him as 119th player. Subsequently, the Avalanche did not take him under contract, which is why he ran up from 2003 to 2005 for the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in the ECHL . At the same time, the defender also came to some appearances in the American Hockey League for the Worcester IceCats and the Hershey Bears . In the 2003/04 season he was selected as a player for the Boardwalk Bullies in the ECHL All-Rookie Team .
In the 2005/06 season Fahey was the first time mostly in the American Hockey League for the Iowa Stars on the ice. At the same time, however, he completed another three games in the ECHL for the Idaho Steelheads . He spent the following two years with the AHL team Chicago Wolves , with whom he won the Calder Cup in the 2007/08 season . In the 2008/09 season he went to the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL. He had previously won the Victoria Cup in preparation for the season with their cooperation partner New York Rangers . It followed a year with the AHL team Lake Erie Monsters before the former junior international was signed by the Washington Capitals . For the Capitals he prepared a goal in the National Hockey League in seven games in the 2010/11 season . Most of the season, however, he spent again in the AHL, with Washington's farm team Hershey Bears and took part in the AHL All-Star Classic . In the 2011/12 season he ran in the AHL for the Rockford IceHogs .
For the 2012/13 season , the American was committed by Vitjas Chekhov from the Continental Hockey League .
Between 2013 and 2016 he was under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the highest Austrian ice hockey league and won the Austrian championship twice .
International
For the USA Fahey took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 1999 . During the tournament he scored one goal in six games.
