Bricht is a district of the community Schermbeck in the Wesel district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Bricht is located one kilometer west of the core town of Schermbeck on federal highway 58 . The district is limited to the west by Damm , to the north by Dämmerwald and Overbeck , to the east by Schermbeck- Mitte and to the south by the Schermbeck district of Gahlen, which is separated by the Lippe . The entire local area is part of the Hohe Mark-Westmünsterland Nature Park .

Nature reserves

The nature reserves Dämmer Wald and Lichtenhagen border Bricht in the north and west. The Lippe lowlands near Bricht have been included in the wet meadow protection program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and, with around 728 hectares, the largest nature reserve in Schermbeck.

history

The farmers in Bricht were first mentioned in a document from Count von Kleve in 1163. Until 1975 Bricht was an independent municipality in the office of Schermbeck, Rees district . On January 1, 1975, as part of the reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia, the municipalities of Schermbeck, Altschermbeck, Bricht, Damm, Dämmerwald, Gahlen, Overbeck and Weselerwald merged to form the municipality of Schermbeck.

Education and sport

In Bricht there is a rifle club and a fishing club, the Tambourcorps Bricht 1931, as well as a music club for Scottish pipes and drums.
