Damm is a district of the municipality of Schermbeck in the Wesel district of North Rhine-Westphalia . The villages Malberg and Wachtenbrink belong to Damm.

Damm is 6.5 km west of the core town of Schermbeck on the federal highway 58 . The district is bordered in the west by Drevenack , in the north by Dusk Forest , in the east by Bricht and in the south by the Hünx district of Gartrop-Bühl, which is separated by the Lippe . Nature reserves

The nature reserves Dämmer Wald and Lichtenhagen border Damm in the north and northwest. The municipality, which has always been characterized by agriculture, was recorded in a Xanten book of the dead (Damme) from the 11th / 12th centuries. First mentioned in the 19th century. The Dammer Windmühle, a so-called Tower Dutchman , built in 1830 is considered the most easterly windmill on the Lower Rhine . Parts of the so-called Klever Landwehr , a Limes on the right bank of the Rhine , which was built after the Varus Battle , run through the local area of ​​Dammer, recognizable as an earth wall. Until the end of 1974 Damm was an independent municipality in the Schermbeck district, Rees district . On January 1, 1975, as part of the reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia, the municipalities of Schermbeck, Altschermbeck, Bricht, Damm, Dämmerwald, Gahlen, Overbeck and Weselerwald merged to form the municipality of Schermbeck.

Damm used to be a station on the Hamburg-Venloer Bahn line from Wesel to Haltern am See, which was built in 1873 and has since been closed . Today the railway line has been developed as a cycling and hiking trail.

There is no school in Damm; the schools in Schermbeck-Mitte are responsible. A rifle club and a riding and driving club are located in the village.
