Brigitte Wohlfarth (* around 1967 in Werbach ) is a German song / concert and opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

She was the youngest of six children. Her talent for singing showed very early on. Brigitte Wohlfarth's talent in the choir ensemble caught the eye of the music teacher at the Matthias Grünewald grammar school in Tauberbischofsheim . At the age of 13 she sang her first opera role: Gretel in Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck . At the same time as attending school, the high school student received a place at the Würzburg University of Music , where she was Bavaria's youngest scholarship holder at the age of 16 (from the Richard Wagner Association and the Leni Geissler Foundation ).

After graduating from high school in 1986 at Matthias-Grünewald-Gymnasium , she studied music and passed the concert exam at the age of 24, and the opera exam four years later. She performed at the Rheingau Festival, the Mozart Festival in Würzburg and the Bregenz Festival . The soprano has tours to Milan, Trieste, Salzburg, France, Australia and Finland.

She completed a master class with James King and began her career as an opera singer in Nuremberg in 1993 with the mono opera Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank . Brigitte Wohlfarth had an engagement at the Staatstheater Braunschweig under the opera director Brigitte Fassbaender , where she made her debut as Desdemona in Otello or Der Mohr von Venezia by Gioacchino Rossini . She said goodbye in 1997 with the role of Arabella from the opera of the same name by Richard Strauss . The soprano has been a freelance artist since 1998. She has made guest appearances in Bologna, Udine, Palermo, Halle an der Saale, Lübeck, Würzburg, Trier, Chemnitz, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Meiningen, Singapore (there she sang on March 28/29, 2002 at the opening of the News Esplanada Hall) , Tbilisi and at the opera festival in Heidenheim an der Brenz . Her roles include Aida (Aida), Leonora (The Troubadour), Leonore (Fidelio), Arabella (Arabella), Isolde ( Tristan and Isolde ), Agathe ( Der Freischütz ) and Elisabeth ( Tannhäuser ).

She regularly gives recitals. Her repertoire includes works by Ludwig van Beethoven , Robert Schumann , Franz Schubert , Richard Strauss , Benjamin Britten , Joseph Haydn , Anton Bruckner , Paul Hindemith etc.

The artist lives near Würzburg and was professor for singing at the Bern University of the Arts from 2010 to 2015 . In the fall semester of 2015 she accepted the call to the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . Brigitte Wohlfahrt has also been an accredited professor at Kalaidos University of Switzerland since 2017 .
