Brittany Crew (born March 6, 1994 in Mississauga ) is a Canadian shot putter who occasionally competes in the discus throw .

Athletic career

Brittany Crew gained first experience in international competitions at the Junior World Championships 2012 in Barcelona , where she was eliminated with 14.03 m in qualification. In 2014 she won bronze medals in the shot put and the discus at the U23 NACAC championships in Kamloops . In 2015 she also won bronze at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju , South Korea , where she hit the ball to 17.27 m. In 2016 she took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated with 17.45 m in qualification . In May 2017, she improved her outdoor record to over 18.50 meters, improving the Canadian record held by Julie Labonté by a little more than 20 centimeters. So she qualified for the World Championships in London , where she finished sixth with 18.21 m in the final . Two weeks later she won the gold medal at the Student World Games in Taipei with 18.34 m. At the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham in 2018 , she finished tenth with 17.61 m and then won the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast behind the Jamaican Danniel Thomas-Dodd and Valerie Adams from New Zealand with 18.32 m .

In 2019 she took part again in the Summer Universiade in Naples , where she took seventh place with a width of 17.07 m. At the beginning of August, she improved her own national record to 19.07 m at the Pan American Games in Lima , winning the silver medal behind Jamaican Thomas-Todd.

From 2016 to 2019, Crew became the Canadian Shot Put Champion. She graduated from York University with a degree in Health Sciences .
