Bruno Campese (born August 13, 1963 in Nelson , British Columbia ) is a former Italo - Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach and functional . He is currently General Manager of the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League .

Career

Bruno Campese began his career as a hockey player with the Penticton Knights, for which he was active from 1979 to 1981 in the British Columbia Hockey League . The goalkeeper then played in the following three years for one season each for the team from Northern Michigan University from the Central Collegiate Hockey Association , as well as the Portland Winter Hawks and Kelowna Wings from the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League . With the Winter Hawks, he won the Memorial Cup in 1983 , the championship of the Canadian Hockey League . He then spent several years in amateur hockey before playing almost exclusively for two different teams in Milan in the Italian Serie A from 1988 to 1994 . He only spent the 1990/91 season at HC Turin in the second-class A2 series. During this period, he was champion three times in a row with HC Devils Milano (1992, 1993 and 1994).

After two years with Milan's league rivals Asiago Hockey , Campese received a contract with the Augsburger Panthers for the 1996/97 season , for which he stood between the posts in 21 games in the German Ice Hockey League . The 1997/98 season spent the Italian national player and Olympic participant from 1994 at VEU Feldkirch , with which he won both the Austrian Championship and the Alpine League . He ended his career following the 1999/2000 season at the age of 37, having previously won the Ice Hockey Superleague championship with the Bracknell Bees .

Immediately after his playing career Campese was head coach in the British Columbia Hockey League, in which he was in charge of the Trail Smoke Eaters from 2000 to 2002. He then worked for two years as an assistant coach with the WHL team of the Calgary Hitmen , before he took over the position of head coach for the BCHL team Penticton Vees for two seasons again. Since the 2007/08 season he has been the coach of the Prince Albert Raiders from the WHL, with whom he missed the playoffs for the Ed Chynoweth Cup twice in a row . From January 2008 he was initially employed as interim general manager before Campese was engaged in the double function of head coach and general manager in March 2008. He held this function until 2011, when the Italian-Canadian limited himself to his duties as General Manager.

International

For Italy , Campese took part in the World Championships in 1993 , 1994 , 1995 and 1999 , as well as the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer .
