The Brzi put 21 , also Autoput Novi Sad-Sabac called, is a planned Serbian highway from Novi Sad about Irig and Ruma to Sabac . A continuation to Loznica on the Bosnian-Herzegovinian border is planned. The planned route between Novi Sad to Šabac is 75 kilometers. An extension to Loznica would increase the total length to about 110 kilometers. The heart of the expressway will be the 2.7 km long tunnel under the Fruška Gora ridge .

planning

In 2008, the planned start of construction was scheduled for the next year. In 2009, the start of construction was postponed to the second half of 2011 and completion by 2014. Initial estimates from 2008 assumed construction costs of around 180 million euros. The construction is now to take place in stages. Initially, the route from Novi Sad to Ruma with a length of 27 km is to be realized.

On December 31, 2012, a contract for the preparation of the project documents was signed with the Chinese company Roads and Bridges . The project documents should be completed by the end of 2013. In early 2014 it was announced that the project would be funded through a public-private partnership or concession . The cost of building the tunnel was estimated at 70–100 million euros. The 27 km long Novi Sad - Ruma section should cost 180 million euros.

meaning

The highway is intended to expand the existing road network, which has a daily traffic volume of 10,000 to 30,000 vehicles, a good half of which are trucks (as of 2006), and the infrastructure in western Serbia in the catchment area of the Danube and Drina rivers . It will also be an important link to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
