Buckhead Ridge is a census-designated place (CDP) in Glades County in the US state of Florida with 1450 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Buckhead Ridge lies at the mouth of the Kissimmee River in Lake Okeechobee in the north east of the county, about 45 km northeast of Moore Haven . The CDP is affected by Florida State Road 78 . Miami is 180 km, Orlando 210 km and Tampa 230 km away.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 1450 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 1227 households. The population density was 426.5 inh / km². 97.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 0.6% as African American , 0.7% as Indians and 0.1% as Asian Americans . 0.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.8% to several ethnic groups. 2.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 59.2% of all households lived in 12.7% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 63.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.03 people and the average family size was 2.44 people.

11.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 10.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 53.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 62 years. 49.4% of the population were male and 50.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 41,196, with 6.8% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
