The towage, shipping companies and salvage mbH & Co. KG is a day for fair play group belonging to German shipping company based in Hamburg , focusing on seagoing vessels ( tugs operating ), salvage and offshore -Inserts specializes.
Company history
The company was founded on January 6, 1866 under the name United Bugsir-Dampfschiff-Gesellschaft by several shipping companies in Hamburg. It merged several times with other companies and changed names several times. In 1898 it was renamed United Bugsir- und Freight Shipping after it had merged with the A. G. Leichtergesellschaft zu Hamburg . The Hermes (I) was the first motorized tug built for the shipping company in 1923. She was 40.6 m long, 6.96 m wide and had a draft of 3.7 m. Their two machines developed 1,600 hp.
In 1926 the majority of the shares passed into the hands of the Schuchmann family from Geestemünde / Bremerhaven .
In 1994 Bugsier took over 80% of the shares in T&S Transport und Service GmbH & Co. KG , in which the towing activities of the shipping company HAPAG-Lloyd were combined and which was fully integrated in 2004.
Since November 6th 1995 the shipping company has been operating as Bugsier-, Reederei- und Bergungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG .
In 2002 a new subsidiary was established in Bremerhaven, the Bugsier Mooring Service .
2017 merged the company with the Fairplay shipping company . The merger was completed on November 8th.
Services and vehicles
In 2015, Bugsier had 28 sea and harbor tugs, a salvage crane and four sea pontoons. In addition, Bugsier manages three oil spill ships on behalf of the federal government and the coastal states . In addition to seagoing ship assistance, the company also offers salvage and sea towing. The company is also involved in the coastal protection working group . Further tasks are the relocation of oil platforms in Europe, crane work up to 600 t, pontoon transport, as well as fighting oil and pollutant accidents. The subsidiary Bugsier Mooring Service offers a mooring service for the entire port area of Bremerhaven .
In addition, Bugsier offers services in the planning, construction and development of special ships for the offshore wind industry.

Special missions
- In 1956 the Suez Canal was cleared for the first time with the tugs Hermes and Wotan as well as the lifting ships Energie and Perseverance .
- In 1967 the construction of the oceanic tugs Oceanic and Arctic was commissioned. The Oceanic is still one of the most powerful tugs ever built. It was held as an emergency tug in the North Sea on behalf of the state until the end of 2010 .
- With the cranes Thor and Roland and the tugs Bugsier 26 and again Hermes , the Bugsier carried out the second clearing of the Suez Canal in 1978/79.
