Falkenbühl Castle

The castle Falkenbühl is an Outbound lowland castle on a flat gneiss hill at the output of Wittentals, 1000 meters from the castle hamlet away, near the town of webs in Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle, whose time of origin is not known, probably goes back to a courtyard, the so-called Upper Court . It was first mentioned in a document in 1405 as owned by the von Falkenstein family . It was only under them that the name of the castle was changed to Falkenbühl ; It is not known who sat in the Upper Court beforehand. From 1423 Konrad Tegelin was the owner of the castle, in 1451 it was sold by him to the Lords of Blumeneck . In 1517 Falkenbühl was sold on by the widow of Hans Dietrich von Blumeneck to her brother David von Landeck . From 1596 at the latest, it was in the possession of the Lords of Sickingen , and in 1808 their manorial power passed to the Grand Duchy of Baden .

description

Presumably, the complex consisted mainly of a residential tower on a surface area of nine by nine meters, of which around 1900 remains three meters high had been preserved. In 1904 a house was also preserved from the small hamlet that had previously belonged to the castle. In 1911 the castle ruins were finally demolished.
