Pořešín Castle

The castle Pořešín (German castle Poreschin ) is the ruin of a hilltop castle in the village of the same name Pořešín and belongs to the Okres Český Krumlov in the South Bohemian region in the Czech Republic. The closest neighboring castles along the Maltsch are Louzek in the south and Velešín in the north.

history

Pořešín Castle was probably built by Bavor III. von Strakonitz founded around 1300 on a ledge above the Maltsch . Around 1315 Bavor III. this castle with the castle Vitějovice near Prachatitz , which until then was owned by the brothers Werner, Racek and Přibík, who were related to him. These established the family "von Poreschin" ( z Pořešína ), which died out in 1423. Afterwards Poreschin and the castle of the same name fell to the crown as a settled fiefdom. In 1423 Jan Žižka tried in vain to conquer the castle with the help of two traitors. Subsequently, Ulrich II von Rosenberg occupied the castle for years. On February 27, 1434 King Sigismund sold Poreschin to Ulrich II, who finally had the castle razed so that it would not fall to his Hussite opponents.

The castle was not rebuilt and remained in ruins. The triple section trenches that separated the castle from two outer castles and the remains of the walls of the palace have been preserved .
