Louzek castle ruins

The castle ruin Louzek (German Lauseck ) is the ruin of a hilltop castle in the municipality Bujanov in Okres Český Krumlov in the South Bohemian region in the Czech Republic. It has been a protected cultural monument since 1958. The next neighboring castle along the Maltsch is Pořešín in the north.

history

Louzek Castle served to protect the merchants on the Linzer Steig , which led through the Mühlviertel to Budweis . In the years 1382–1423 the lords of Maršovice, relatives of the Rosenbergs , can be proven as owners. After the Hussite Wars , Louzek came into the possession of Johann von Malovice, whose sons sold the castle to Ulrich II von Rosenberg in 1448 , who added it to the Nové Hrady estate . From this point on, the castle was no longer inhabited, and in the Rosenberg directory of 1541 Louzek is already referred to as a ruin.
