Burgis Paier

Burgis Paier (* 1949 in Klagenfurt in Carinthia ) is an Austrian doll maker, contemporary artist , costume and stage designer . She lives and works in Vienna .

life and work

She showed her first exhibition in 1977 in the Hildebrand Gallery in Klagenfurt and in the Galleria d'Arte in Udine ( Italy ). She is a member of the Carinthian Art Association. She experiments with a wide variety of materials and creates a wide variety of individual sculptures from them. The poet HCArtmann writes about them: "Burgis in Friuli makes beautiful dolls and collects rose petals in vats by the pound or are they stone basins they smell weakly but quite individually a fire beetle that runs over the window pane dreams of the rose petals in Walburgi's Palladiovilla". Günter Brus writes about her that the people who modeled the dolls have long since given up their fate. She has done several joint exhibition projects with Günter Brus, including a project about Kaspar Hauser entitled “Der Einspinner”.

Since the 1980s, Burgis Paier has also worked as a costume and set designer for the Klagenfurt City Theater , the Theater an der Wien , the Wiener Festwochen , ARBOS - Society for Music and Theater , the Wiener Kabinetttheater, the Teatr Śląski in Katowice and the Stary Teatr im . Heleny Modrzejewskiej w Krakowie in Poland .
